Regional Training Course on Oceanographic of Marine Environmental Materials of Radioactive and Non-radioactive Contaminants, 9-20th. April 2001
In view of the high cost of sampling environmental materials and in addition to the long process endured for the analysis of the materials for radioactive and non-radioactive marine contaminants, a proper technique has to be acquired by researchers in order to rightly interprete data produced from the study programme. The quality of data is determined by the execution of proper sampling technique during sampling. To achieve this a training course is going to be held on board of a research vessel that will cruise along the Staits of Malacca. The oceanographic expedition involving 38 scientists from 18 countries was launched at the Malaysian Institute for Nuclear Technology Research (MINT). The
on-board training course is to introduce and provide practical experience on
contemporary methodology for sampling of marine environmental material such as
sediments, water and biota. Proper QA/QC technique for the sampling and
laboratory analysis will also be introduced during the course. The following
subjects will be covered.
Project Coordinators Meeting for the Electronics Networking and Outreach sub-project, 17-21st. April 2000 This meeting was held at the Malaysian Institute for Nuclear Technology Research (MINT). The purpose of the meeting is to review the current status of the Electronics Networking and Outreach sub-project, revise workplan for year 2000, devise proposals for sustaining the project into the year 2002-2003, discuss issues relating to content of homepages and incorporation of TCDC information, formulate methodology to ensure the flow of information and as a forum for all the project coordinators to meet and synergise their activities.
